Urban Ecosystem Research Consortium of Portland/Vancouver


UERC is a consortium of people from various educational institutions, state and federal agencies, local governments, non-profit organizations and businesses, as well as independent professionals and students, interested in supporting urban ecosystem research and creating an information sharing network of people that collect and use ecological data in the Portland/Vancouver area.

The mission of the UERC is to advance the state of the science of urban ecosystems and improve our understanding of them, with a focus on the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan region, by fostering communication and collaboration among researchers, managers and citizens at academic institutions, public agencies, local governments, non-profit organizations, and other interested groups.

The role of the UERC is not to provide a political or advocacy platform, but rather to offer a forum for professionals to exchange and discuss information regarding urban ecology and its application to relevant fields.

The major activities of UERC include an annual symposium in January/February, and brown bag presentations throughout the year.  We host a mailing list, so please sign up if you'd like to be notified of upcoming events!

    The symposium focuses on urban environmental issues and the practical application of related ecological and social science research in the Portland/Vancouver region.  Features:
       > Brief presentations and a poster session will give you a taste of what’s happening in the region
       > Inspiring keynotes from noted researchers and practitioners
       > Networking opportunities throughout the day
       > Lunchtime discussion groups provide opportunities to exchange information and ideas

    To REGISTER, click here.  Lunch will be included for those that register online.  Online registration will close January 29, 2016.

     

    Registration by January 18, 2016: $45 General, $15 Student (with ID), $10 Volunteer*

    *Please register early and select the volunteer option; there are a limited number of volunteer opportunities.

     

    Registration after January 18, 2016: $60 General, $15 Student

     

    At-the-door Registration: $60 General; $15 Student, with payment by credit card only (no cash or checks).

    Does not include lunch.
