Abstract criteria: relevance to the central theme of urban ecological research and conservation occurring within and/or applicable to the Portland/Vancouver region; focus on results/lessons learned/tools to share; diversity of topics/disciplines, including ecological, social, educational, policy/planning/management; diversity of speaker affiliations; degree to which results have been achieved (research is complete, or incomplete results are useful and of interest to the audience). These symposia are intended to bring people that use data with people that collect data together, so topics are not limited to research per se.
